2. Archive

We have made collection extremely straightforward and un-intrusive. You can even read the page while you you tag and comment!

  1. As you browse the web, when you find a page or site that is valuable to you, you can archive it. Simply click on the Collect this bookmarklet
  2. The Collect Bar appears at the top of the page and the web page you are on, moves down. In the Collect Bar, you enter information about the page, such as tags and comments, select the scope of capture and public/private status and click on the Collect button. If you are not sure which scope, use the default context scope to collect the page and its linked pages.
  3. Collect starts a process called gathering. This is where our archival crawlers retrieve the page(s) requested and after a little while, depending on the scope and size of the page or site, these are added to the archive and you will see the item listed in the my archive page.

3. Browse

As you and other members collect pages for archiving, you will have access to an ever-increasing collection of web material to browse.

  1. You can view, search and browse archived web pages and sites within your own personal archive and the shared public archive:
    • View: the 'my archive' page shows a list of archived items, together with their tags and comments and archived instances date(s).
    • Search: entering a word in the search box or clicking a tag in the tag cloud, finds archived items whose tags, comments and titles contain that word. The result is another list of archived items.
    • Browse: clicking on the title of an archived item launches the archive browser and you can browse the content of the archive as though it were the live.
  2. The archive banner at the top of the page shows tags and commentary as well as your login information.
  3. The archive banner shows a link to the original page on the live web.
